FTNON Dry-deskinner

for potatoes, carrots and beets

The new dry-deskinner of Food Technology Noord-Oost Nederland B.V. (FTNON) is used to remove the sticking peelings dry, i.e. without the use of water, after the steam peeler. The system is suitable for the deskinning of amongst others potatoes, carrots and beets.

The machine consists of a round drum, which is mounted in a frame. The products arrive in the drum by an infeed channel. Over its entire length the drum is provided with special perforations. The deskinning operation is based on the rubbing of potatoes against the edges of the perforations of the drum and on mutual rubbing together of products. The transport of potatoes is effected by means of a screw conveyor. This screw is constructed in such a way that the products as to enable the product to pass through the installation at a constant rate. A chute is mounted under the drum, through which peelings and other dirt parts can be discharged centrally, i.e. by means of a pump.

Compared with a brushing belt the new dry-deskinner is more suitable for different kinds of products with various dimensions. The installation has a hygienic construction and is easy to clean. Thanks to the limited number of turning parts the maintenance is reduced to a minimum.

In the meantime FTNON has already installed various dry-deskinners at leading, internationally operating, producers in the food industry.
