The automatic cabbage coring and quartering machine performs the following functions:
- laying on and orientation of cabbages by hand
- automatic coring of cabbages
- automatic dividing of cabbages into 2 or 4 parts
- automatic outfeed of cabbages
The cabbage is placed by hand on a form chute with the core downwards. The loading station then indexes to the next position automatically. The form chute consists of 4 segments with an opening in the middle, through which the drill moves upwards. Before coring, the cabbage is fixed by a special crown, provided with a mechanically adjustable end touch bar. The coring depth and diameter are defined by the dimensions of the drill. In this way it is possible to core only that part, which actually needs to be removed. The necessary drills can be quickly exchanged. In the next position the cabbage is divided into 2 or 4 parts. A pneumatic cylinder pushes the cabbage through the form chute and through the knife head, which is placed directly under the form chute. The divided cabbages fall on a discharge belt. The coring waste is caught in a chute and discharged.
